Victory Security Company does not just hire security officers without undergoing systematic background checks, drug test but the prospective staff must meet the following requirements as required by New York State Department of State Division of Licensing Services.

8-Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course

All security guards are required to complete an 8 Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course prior to applying to the Department of State for a Security Guard Registration Card.

16-Hour On-the-Job (OJT) Training Course

All security guards are mandated to take this class within 90 days of initial employment as a security guard.

8-Hour Annual Refresher Training Course

As a security officer, you must successfully complete this course to renew your licensure each year. This is a follow up to keep you abreast of any changes in the law or procedures and it goes further into detail about procedures, laws and responsibilities.

47-Hour Firearms Training Course

Armed guard applicants must possess a valid NYS pistol license pursuant to Penal Law 400.00 and must complete a 47 Hour Firearms Training Course for Security Guards prior to applying for a Special Armed Guard Registration Card. preparatory one year from the date of completion of the 47 hour firearms training course, bearer of a Special Armed Guard Registration Card are required to annually complete an 8 Hour Annual In-service Training Course for Armed Security Guards every year subsequently.

Please note; Section 89-n of the General Business Law of New York State provides some exemptions and/or waivers of training based on previous Municipal Police Training Council approved law enforcement training. F-01

It is required In any occupancy where a required fire protection system is out of service, a fire watch shall be maintained by one or more persons holding a Certificate of Fitness. For the initial four hours of a planned or an unplanned out of service condition when the effected area does not exceed 50,000 square feet, the impairment coordinator or a trained and knowledgeable person who is capable of performing fire watch duties and is designated by the building owner may perform the fire watch duties.

A Certificate of Fitness is required by all Fire Guards in shelters where a sprinkler system is not installed or when a fire protection system is temporarily out of service. A shelter is a building designed to provide a temporary residence for at risk populations such as homeless or elderly persons. Fire Guards are responsible for eliminating fire hazards and assisting in the evacuation of occupants during drills and in cases of emergency. A Fire Safety Coordinator is required to supervise Fire Guards.

An individual responsible for assisting in maintaining fire safety at an approved place of assembly (PA) or temporary place of assembly (TPA) at a specific location is required to hold a Certificate of Fitness. This Certificate of Fitness is valid only at a specific location and for the specific person to whom it is issued.

F-04

An individual responsible for assisting in maintaining fire safety at temporary place of assembly events at different locations is required to hold a Certificate of Fitness. This Certificate of Fitness is valid only for the specific person to whom it is issued and can be used anywhere within New York City.

F-07

A Certificate of Fitness is required to lead fire drills in buildings that do not require a Fire Safety Director. The main purpose of a fire drill is to allow occupants to practice emergency evacuation procedures. The Fire and Emergency Drill Conductor must make sure that fire drills are conducted in a safe and orderly manner. In buildings where a Fire Safety Director is required, the Fire Safety Director is responsible for such duties. This Certificate of Fitness is valid only at a specific location and for the specific person to whom it is issued.

F-60

A Certificate of Fitness holder must be present to perform fire watch during hot work operations at:

  • Construction sites.
  • Rooftop operations where torch-applied roof systems are in operation, and
  • In any building or structure, when the torch operation is conducted by a person holding a citywide permit for torch operations. This Certificate of Fitness is valid only for the specific person to whom it is issued and can be used anywhere within New York City..

F-80

All homeless shelters require an individual holding a Certificate of Fitness for Coordinator of Fire Safety and Alarm Systems in Homeless Shelters (F-80). This certificate is also needed in any building or occupancy required to have a one-way voice communication system, regardless of occupancy classification, that is operated or occupied by more than 15 persons for a period of more than 30 days, including emergency shelters.

F-85

The F-85 Certificate of Fitness (after meeting additional requirements, specified in the Notice of Examination) replaces the F-25/F-58 Fire Safety Director Certificates of Fitness.

F-89

The F-89 Fire and Life Safety (FLS) Director is required in any commercial building requiring Comprehensive Fire Safety and Emergency Action Plan or the buildings previously requiring Fire Safety Directors. In general, any building classified as a high-rise office building, hotel or buildings that have voluntarily installed fire alarm systems with two-way voice communication systems must have a Fire Life and Safety Director on premises during regular business hours. The FLS Director and Deputy FLS Director must hold a valid Certificate of Fitness and is responsible to implement the FDNY plan (e.g. Comprehensive Fire Safety and Emergency Action Plan or Fire Safety and Evacuation Plan), to conduct FLS staff training, fire and non-fire emergency drills and other duties indicated in the Fire Code and Fire Rule.

F-89

The F-89 Certificate of Fitness (after meeting additional requirements, specified in the Notice of Examination) replaces the F-59 FS/EAP Director Certificate of Fitness. This Certificate of Fitness is valid only at a specific location and for the specific person to whom it is issued. For the premises without Comprehensive Fire Safety and Emergency Action Plan, F-85 Certificate of Fitness is on longer accepted. All F-85 C of F holders working in such premises must obtain T-89 Certificate of Fitness.

T-89

The T-89 Temporary Fire Life and Safety Director is required in any hotel or a commercial building that has a Fire Safety and Evacuation Plan but is not currently required to file a Comprehensive Fire Safety/Emergency Action Plan. The Temporary Fire Life and Safety Director must hold a valid Certificate of Fitness (after meeting additional requirements, specified in the Notice of Examination) and is responsible to implement the approved Fire Safety and Evacuation Plan for fire emergencies and take actions in response to non-fire emergencies as the building owner authorizes, based on the standard FDNY non-fire emergency procedures and the plan or procedures currently in place for the premises. This Certificate of Fitness is valid only at a specific location and for the specific person to whom it is issued.

S-56

The S-56 Certificate of Fitness is required where a Site Safety Manager or Site Safety Coordinator is required by the Building Code for a construction site. The Construction Site Fire Safety Manager (CSFSM) shall conduct an inspection of the construction site and all fire safety measures on at least a daily basis, and maintain a record when construction, demolition and alteration work is being conducted. This Certificate of Fitness is valid only at a specific location and for the specific person to whom it is issued.

S-95

Any building with a fire alarm system or other related system, such as a sub-system, is required to have an individual holding a Certificate of Fitness for Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems and Other Related Systems (S-95) physically present. A fire alarm system is any system that automatically transmits a signal to a NYC Fire Department (FDNY) approved central station. Although a fire alarm system can be installed in any building, fire alarm systems are required in all commercial buildings, office buildings, hotels, motels, schools, shelters, hospitals, marinas, high-rise or low-rise apartment buildings, and all buildings specified in New York City Building Code section 309.1. This Certificate of Fitness is valid only at a specific location and for the specific person to whom it is issued.

NOTE

Please note Some of these trainings listed above are mandated training courses for every Security Guard officers by state regulations, but Victory Security Company also offer ongoing and specialized training as maybe needed to facilitate excellent performance in any given assignments, as well as to advance in your career. Other various training courses offered by Victory Security Company include but not limited to; use of security equipment as the case maybe, classroom instruction on general orders and site specific post orders, defensive tactics and interpersonal skills, operational and emergency procedures.
